Head of Leadership, Learning & Talent - People Function
Absa Bank (Mauritius) Limited

With a profound passion for partnering with leadership to shape and perpetually enhance organizational culture and elevate the employee experience, I have dedicated over 14 years to the pursuit of making employees successful. My professional journey spans diverse global companies, touching upon industries ranging from Tourism & Hospitality to FMCG, Banking, and Financial Services. My unique blend of expertise has thrived in dynamic, results-driven environments that place paramount importance on employee success, collaboration, achievement, and agility.

Currently, I serve as the Head of Leadership, Learning, and Talent at Absa Bank (Mauritius) Ltd., a prominent financial services provider, where my responsibilities extend to a 650+ employee base. Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, I oversee a team of eight direct reports. In this role, I am the principal liaison with the Absa Regional Office, offering strategic leadership to foster a future-ready organization. My remit includes shaping the Learning and Talent Strategy in alignment with organizational objectives, managing the academies to ensure cost-effective and high-quality delivery, and identifying and supervising key LLT & HR projects geared towards driving performance. I also play a pivotal role in embedding a consistent and robust talent management experience across the organization, with a focus on onboarding, development, retention, engagement, and off-boarding. I collaborate closely with each business unit within Absa to leverage performance management as a catalyst for unlocking employee potential and maximizing value delivery to stakeholders.

During my tenure as Head of Talent, I've spearheaded several pivotal achievements that have reshaped our organization's approach to talent management. A standout accomplishment has been the successful integration of talent management practices, ensuring that our top talent is identified, developed, and retained effectively. This strategic shift has led to a more robust internal talent pool and, in turn, contributed to our sustained growth and success. Moreover, I've cultivated valuable partnerships with universities, focusing on Leadership development. Collaborations of this nature have greatly enriched our leadership pipeline by equipping emerging leaders with the knowledge and skills essential for navigating the complexities of the modern business landscape. These partnerships have established a culture of continuous learning and leadership excellence, positioning our organization as a beacon of innovation and growth.

I have also played a key role in enhancing our talent acquisition strategy, making it more inclusive and efficient. We've successfully attracted top-tier talents from a wide range of backgrounds, enabling our organization to leverage diverse perspectives and expertise, resulting in an environment where innovation thrives. In addition, I've fostered a learning culture across the organization, emphasizing the value of ongoing skill development and knowledge sharing. This cultural shift has not only enhanced our employees' professional growth but has also ensured our organization remains at the forefront of industry trends and advancements. These combined achievements reflect my unwavering commitment to creating a dynamic, innovative, and agile workforce that drives our organization's continued success.

Before my role at Absa, I held the position of Cluster Human Capital Manager at Currimjee, Food & Beverage (sole distributor of PepsiCo products on the local territory), where I managed a 650+ employee base and reported directly to the CEO and Managing Director. In this capacity, I strategically articulated HR needs and plans to support four clusters, spearheading talent management, organizational design, and performance management, among other functions. During my tenure, I initiated a comprehensive overhaul of HR practices, including the introduction of HR standards, revamped employee handbooks, and the implementation of performance management systems. I navigated the organization through a significant period of restructuring, streamlined infrastructure, harmonized compensation and benefits, and instilled a culture of high performance. Additionally, I drove the transition to an integrated HRIS platform, enhancing analytical and planning capabilities while simplifying HR operations.

My journey began at Island Resort Ltd., The Oberoi Group, where I held various HR roles, culminating in the position of Deputy Director of HR. My mission at the time was to foster employee morale to achieve high levels of guest satisfaction, and I led the transformation of HR from a traditional labor relations function into a comprehensive HR organization.

My educational and professional credentials include ongoing programme in Business Leadership at IMD Business School in Switzerland, and Associate Membership with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) in the UK. I am also hold a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in HR from the University of Technology (Mauritius), among other qualifications.

Throughout my career, my unwavering commitment has been to shape the future of leadership and human capital strategies, driving positive changes that elevate employee experiences, foster organizational growth, and enhance overall performance. I have consistently focused on aligning HR practices with broader business goals and instilling a culture of excellence and employee ambassadorship.
