Dr. Philimon Chitagu

Human Resources Director / CHRO
Schweppes Zimbabwe Ltd.

Dr. Philimon Chitagu is a Human Resources Director/CHRO at Schweppes Zimbabwe Ltd and has 28 years of relevant HR experience in both Gvt and Private Sector. He is one of the Schweppes Holdings Africa Limited Executive Committee Members (Exco).

Dr. Chitagu is a holder of Masters in Business Administration (MBA-Zimbabwe Open University). He is also a holder of PhD (Doctoral Thesis topic “Transformative Leadership Through Bonding Culture”)-Da Vinci Institute of Technology and Business School of Leadership, South Africa. Dr Chitagu, through his Doctoral thesis has developed a Leadership Model called Mhofu Bonding Culture Model (MBCM).

He is an MGSCC (USA) Trained Executive and Team Coach and CCF (Canada), Gallup Certified Strengths Coach (UK) and Master Certified Balance Scorecard Professional (USA).

Dr. Chitagu is a Past President of Institute of People Management of Zimbabwe IPMZ, having risen through the ranks from Councillor, Vice President-HR, PR and Customer Care, President, and Immediate Past President. He is a Gallup Certified Coach. He was recently conferred with Africa Leadership Legend Award (LBL). Dr Chitagu has also been conferred with Africa HR Leadership Awards by the Africa Best Employer Brands (Mauritius). Dr Chitagu has also contributed towards achievement of several awards by the company, granted by several boards including IPMZ, CZI, EMCOZ, MAZ, Africa Best Employer Brands and recently Global Best Employer Brands by World HRD Congress.

Dr. Chitagu is an upcoming author and has published two Human Resources books (Inside the HR Cockpit and The Human Resources Mojo) and has also authored a Leadership Book titled Leading From The Heart book (CDH of Leadership) which was published in December 2021!

He is a keynote speaker and has presented papers locally and abroad including at international events. Dr. Chitagu has been accorded a Global HR Mind and Thinker Award from (World HRD Congress). He sits on World HRD Congress Board (Republic of India). Dr Chitagu is a board member and sits on the following boards-Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Services (ZPCS); Institute of People Management of Zimbabwe (Past IPMZ President), Suryadatta Group of Universities (Republic of India); Tripartite Labour Law Advisory Council (Ministry of Labour), Labour Committee-Employers Confederation of Zimbabwe (EMCOZ), Africa HR Board of Directors and he is a board member for Bindura University of Science Education Council. He also chairs the Human Capital Development Committee for same University. He also chairs First Choice Group of Colleges Board. Dr Chitagu is a Visiting Lecturer for Stenden University (SA and International). Dr Chitagu is also an examiner for Masters and PhD Programs with Da Vinci Institute of Technology (SA).

Dr. Chitagu is the Founder of Triggers Human Capital Consultants, a company that specializes in Organization Transformation, Performance Management, Coaching for Performance, High Performance Leadership Coaching Culture, Change Management, Organization Design, Leadership Coaching and Mentoring.

Dr. Chitagu runs coaching programs under Triggers Stakeholder Centered Coaching Group for students, graduates, and newly appointed employees as well as seasoned leaders. His philosophy is to develop individuals so that they realize their full potential.

As part of sharing knowledge with many potential beneficiaries, Dr Chitagu encourages the coachees to go and help other three coachees each, to spread the knowledge. To date over 1000 individuals requiring Coaching and Mentoring skills have been assisted. Dr Chitagu has also assisted in establishment of Legacy Building Leaders Coaching Organization whose roots are in Zimbabwe and has spread across other African Countries.
